There are two distinct classifications for HMO’s, those that are required to have a license and those that are not.
The current Plymouth City Council guideline for a Licensed HMO is one that is occupied by 5 or more people over 3 or more stories.
A License determines the facilities and safety measures you must meet in order to rent the property, covering such things as bathroom facilities and fire alarm specification.
If you are a landlord with a HMO property that requires a license, we must be provided with a copy of this license prior to advertising.
